TO ALL 2016 GRADUATES, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT FOR IRCC TO CHANGE ITS MIND ON STREAM B.

You have very little time to get into September entry for 1yr PGDip in Canada before your 5yr-fresh prerequisite expires.

Based on a latest conversation between a Director of IRCC and an MP, the words IRCC used were, "We have already made this special pathway for HKers that other people don't have. Your 2016 & 17 graduates have multiple options to stay. They are responsible for securing their own ways to stay, be it through EE, or study a PGD to qualify for Stream A."

This shows us that IRCC is, at least for now, quite firm with this stance. The House is in summer recess now. Very little decisions will be made. Do not waste time hoping for a change of mind on this policy.

Seize your last chance now and at least apply for a PGDip to start before the 5yr deadline of your prereq Bachelor or IVE dip expires.

  1. Now that we have confirmation from IRCC that the 5yr-fresh prerequisite for Canadian Postgrad Dip could have been completed overseas (ECA needed), we now know that completing a Canadian PGD before your 5yr prerequisite expires can qualify you for Stream A.

  2. Apply for a Canadian PGD from any public college. If you have a Work Permit, see if the school can give you local fees.

  3. See if you can transfer credits to lower your course load and tuition fees.

  4. Apply for Stream A upon your Canadian PGD graduation, but at that point, your SP would expire. You will need legal status to stay while your wait for PR approval.

  5. Your 3yr OWP should cover you for that wait.

  6. If you don't have OWP, you will need to apply PGWP upon your graduation so you have implied status to stay while you wait for PR approval.

  7. That means, if don't have OWP, you need select a program that of eligible for PGWP. Check the "IRCC DLI" list.

  8. ACT NOW before all program applications for September 2021 entry are closed.

  9. If we win the 2016-17 battle later on, it will be bonus, and you can drop out of your school program at that time if you want to. But if not, at least you have a school offer to qualify you for Stream A. I will continue working on this battle, but you should get your school offer first.

  10. Refer to this video to find your program, apply for Study Permit, and write your Study Plan.
